Olive Branch

Communication is the foundation for almost everything else worth building: leadership, public speaking, confidence, the simple ability to know what you think and say it clearly. That foundation doesn't get built on a stage. It gets built at a table, in ordinary conversations, usually years before anyone is thinking about leadership at all. That is what Olive Branch is actually for.

Most conversation card games get played once and put in a drawer. This one is built to be picked up again and again: hundreds of questions across seven categories, most of them written to be asked a second and third time, months or years apart, landing somewhere new each time because the person answering has changed.

Two things back that up. Psychologist Arthur Aron's well-known 1997 study on closeness found that gradual, back-and-forth self-disclosure, not one big confession, is what actually brings people closer, which is why each category here moves from light to deeper instead of starting heavy. Emory University researchers Marshall Duke and Robyn Fivush found that kids who know their own family's stories, how their parents met, what the family has been through, show measurably more resilience and self-esteem, using what they called the Do You Know scale. That finding shaped the Family Time & Memories category directly.

Olive Branch is a branch of Olive Tree Institute's wider work: an organization building programs in public speaking, leadership, and personal development for youth and adults, rooted in Islamic values. Kids who grow up being listened to become adults who know how to listen, and how to speak up when it counts. That is the belief underneath this deck, and everything else Olive Tree Institute builds.
